The Coffee Club

Knapton Coffee Club was launched in January 09 to give villagers a place to meet. The club is open on the second and the fourth Friday of each month. We offer a range of teas and coffee, accompanied by biscuits, the occasional home-made cake and a good chat.

We have all ages dropping in from one of the youngest to the more senior members of our community. Some stay from 10 to 12.30, some drop in for half an hour. As a result of the closure of the Methodist Chapel, and until further notice, the Coffee Club will be hosted by Mrs Alison Glaze at her residence, School House, in Hall Lane.

Come along and join us, you can chat or just listen. We would love to see you.

We meet: 2nd and 4th Friday each month

Time: 10:00 to 12:30

Cost: £1

Where: School House, Hall Lane.

Womens Own

Knapton Women's Own meet at the Village Hall on Hall Lane at 2:15 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.

Women's Own provides a varied program of events and activities for women of all denominations (or none).  We do not charge a membership fee, but each month we have a voluntary collection and a raffle.

Activities include a variety of speakers, a Summer Outing, a Christmas Carol Service, a Christmas Lunch and a New Year Party.

Each year the members choose a charity to support (often a local charity).  We raise funds via our raffles and our main fundraiser of the year, our Strawberry Tea. This is held in Knapton Village Hall on the first Tuesday afternoon in July.  It is a fun afternoon which is always well supported by Knapton residents and friends of Women's Own.

If you would like to give Knapton Women's Own a try, we would love to welcome you to our happy group.  Do come along to one of our meetings or contact Jill Emms, our President (01263 721439) or Tricia Doidge, Secretary (01263 576423) for more details.

Knapton Ladies

We would like to introduce you to the Knapton Ladies Club. We meet on the third Monday of the month in the village hall at 7.30pm. For eight months of the year we are lucky enough to have a varied programme of speakers.

We have a raffle each month, we also have a bring and buy table every other month. We are a non profit making club but we like to support local charities.

In July each year we have a Summer Supper which is held at present in a member of the committee's garden. This is always a scrumptious affair.

There are outings throughout the year, some of which include guests.

Knapton Ladies Club is not confined to Knapton and we welcome women of all ages. We have members from Mundesley, Paston, Trunch and North Walsham.

If you would like to join us or would like to know more, please contact Mary on 01263 720 908.

The Art Club

The Knapton Art Group was started in 1984 by Denis Haynes and is held in Knapton Village Hall.

Beginning with stalwarts like Arthur and Doris Bradley. John Stear, and Betty Hammond, they (with others) kept the Club going in summer and winter.

Apart from the initial couple of years, an 'Art Exhibition' has always been held at August Bank Holiday weekend, where a good selection of our paintings can be viewed and purchased.

The club meets on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00, apart from the dark evenings between Christmas and Easter when we meet in the afternoon, between 2:00 and 4:00. Although not essentially teaching art, there is always lots of help from other artists in oils, water colours and pastels.

 Bell Ringing

For over 30 years, up to the early 1990's, the band of bell ringers was lead by former resident Andrew Lubbock, who in his time taught many locals to ring, including all his family. The band is now lead by his son, another Andrew Lubbock

The current band is always looking for new recruits to continue part of Britain's fine heritage by preserving an art which dates back hundreds of years.

Ringing times are:

Services Sunday 9.30am - 10.00am
Practice Friday 7.30pm - 9.00pm

Anyone who would like to come and find out more about the bells, or bell ringing are most welcome to come along to any Friday night practice and ask for Andrew (Tower Captain)

 Allotments

The Parish Council manage a number of allotments at a site located just off Hall Lane and these, when available, may be rented by members of the community. At the present time (February 2016) there are two plots available and anyone interested in taking them for rent should contact Mr Pat Lee on (01263) 721 335 or by email at knapjenpat@btinternet.com
